Allied Health Career Pathways Blueprint
We worked with the health sector to create the Allied Health Career Pathways Blueprint. It provides guidance on career development and progression opportunities across all career stages.
There are 5 work streams and opportunities for leadership across each stream. The streams include:
- practice
- education
- research
- management
- strategy
The management and strategy stream gives more detailed advice on building leadership skills.
Leadership development program
We support allied health leadership development through the Allied Health Leadership Development Program. It supports allied health professionals who are:
- employed under the Allied Health Professionals Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and
- working in public health services and/or public funded community health services
Allied health professionals can study through an education partner. This can include units of study or a short course. We share information about applications yearly.

Allied Health professionals in senior leadership positions can provide strategic advice to improve the health system. This may relate to service delivery and the optimal use of the allied health workforce.
