Gazettal notices for Schedule 8 treatment permits & drug event notifications

The gazette notices published in the Victorian Government Gazette on 26 March 2020 and 31 August 2023 provide important information for registered medical practitioners and nurse practitioners.

The notice published on 26 March 2020 under Section 32A(3) describes when a registered medical practitioner or and nurse practitioner must notify the Secretary about certain reportable drug events. This includes circumstances when a medical practitioner or nurse practitioner must make a notification about a patient (a prisoner) who is to be released from custody.

The notice published on 31 August 2023 under Section 35A(1) describes six circumstances and conditions when medical practitioners or nurse practitioners may treat a patient with a Schedule 8 medicine without a treatment permit for a continuous period of over 8 weeks when the patient is not a drug-dependent person.
