Improving care is a key component of the safety and quality approach for supporting public sector residential aged care services (PSRACS). Evidence-based, person-centered approaches are promoted to support high-quality care and quality of life outcomes for residents. The Department has developed a range of information, resources and programs to help services achieve this goal. These focus on important areas of care, evidence translation, better use of data and learning from deaths and preventable harm.
Comprehensive health assessment of the older person
Comprehensive health assessment (CHA) recognises many older Victorians have more than one health issue. CHA is the foundation of clinical practice in aged care.
Standardised care processes
Standardised care processes are a clinical resource to enable best practices. They are available for all health professionals and residential aged care providers.
Quality indicators in public sector residential aged care services
The quality indicator program aims to improve care provided by PSRACS. PSRACS report against five quality indicators covering high-risk care areas.
