Sexual safety

This Chief Psychiatrist’s guideline provides advice to designated mental health services, and mental health and wellbeing service providers in custodial settings. However this advice can also be applied across the mental health and wellbeing system in Victoria.

This guideline sets out the relevant legislation and policy, and establishes minimum standards for:

• promoting sexual safety
• supporting human rights
• assessing and managing risks
• identifying and responding to incidents
• reporting sexual safety incidents.

Chief Psychiatrist’s reporting directive

The Chief Psychiatrist’s reporting directive informs designated mental health services and mental health and wellbeing services in custodial settings on how and when to report sexual safety incidents to the Chief Psychiatrist.
