Chief Psychiatrist’s guideline on improving sexual safety in mental health and wellbeing services.

This Chief Psychiatrist’s guideline provides advice to designated mental health services, and mental health and wellbeing service providers in custodial settings. However this advice can also be applied across the mental health and wellbeing system in Victoria.

This guideline sets out the relevant legislation and policy, and establishes minimum standards for:

  • promoting sexual safety
  • supporting human rights
  • assessing and managing risks
  • identifying and responding to incidents
  • reporting sexual safety incidents.
